This journey is at a more comfortable ‘walk and talk’ level.  It will involve 5-6 hours of walking on each of the three walking days but with comfortable overnight stops on the trek.  May is a perfect month to visit Losinj – lovely early summer temperatures and very quiet.  Our base camp will be in a quiet grove of pine trees next to the sea by the village of Osor, with its fascinating 2000 year old archaeological history.  We will then make a 4 day journey around the southern part of the island including overnight stays in the colourful old town of Veli Losinj and the forests of Cikat bay facing the sea.

Day 1 (Tue) – You will be picked up from Pula airport in Croatia and driven as a group to our base camp by the sea at Osor, on Losinj island. This will include a short 30 minute ferry journey.  We will set up tents, cook together and have time to savour the sea, and coastline.

Day 2 (Wed) – We will have the morning to explore Osor and its fascinating archeological history.  In the afternoon we will take a bus to the small coastal town of Veli Losinj.  We will stay in the friendly and comfortable youth hostel and eat dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3 (Thu) – We will walk south from Veli Losinj along the footpath that follows the coastline.  We will then head inland and cross to the other side of the island to lunch at Balvanida restaurant by the sea.  In the afternoon we will continue walking the coastal path north to the forests of Cikat bay.  Here we will overnight by the sea in the beautiful tents of Losinj Glamping.  This day will involve around 5 hours walking and 250m ascent.

Day 4 (Fri) – We will take a boat that will ferry us across the vast natural harbour of Mali Losinj that was once used as a resting place for the Roman fleets that patrolled the Adriatic.  We will land at the small village of Armature.  After coffee we will walk north and start to follow the ascending line of hills that traverse the length of the island.  After around 250m ascent we will descend to the coastal village of Nerezine and a shared apartment at the lovely Galboka residence.  We can either cook a meal together and eat on the terrace or find a local restaurant.

Day 5 (Sat) – We will head back up into the rocky mountains and begin an ascent of the highest point Televrin at 588m.  We will then make our way slowly downhill following the ridgeline.  This will take us back to our base camp at Osor.  This day will be about 5 hours walking and 600m ascent.

Day 6 (Sun) – We will have a relaxed final morning and pack up our base camp.  In the afternoon we will start the drive out to arrive in early evening at Ljubljana airport.
